About the Artist
In my work I try to keep things as simple as possible and paint the kinds of things that I want to see most. This usually involves a kind of world that is part human, part alien, and part something else that I’m only vaguely familiar with or aware of. I try to avoid anything that looks “cut-and-pasted”, and instead try to keep everyone and everything flowing and connected with each other and their surroundings. Any personal “meanings” or “messages” seem to work their way up to surface along the way, but for me are only rarely a part of the process.
Painting is never easy, and is often entirely frustrating for me, but when I’m focused on visual elements alone, it can be a fun, and very rewarding and satisfying experience. If a piece is interesting to me and fun to look at, I’m happy with it, and it’s generally a huge relief to able to see something new and different.
