About the Artist

Painter and Sculptress, Martina Hoffmann, lives and works in the US. The German-born artist spent her childhood in Cameroon, West Africa and studied art at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. Some of her African experiences became the inspiration for many of her sculptures and paintings. Her early work consists of portraiture in a Magical Realistic style.

In her more recent paintings Hoffmann’s style has shifted towards Transpersonal Realism and she has become a translator of visions. A large part of her creative work offers the viewer a detailed glimpse into her inner landscapes – imagery that has been informed by the dream state, meditation and shamanic journeys. While much of her art shows a deep connection to the sacred feminine, it also reflects a deep reverence for universal interconnectedness and the interdependency of all life.

Martina has exhibited her work internationally since 1985 and has created original art and photography for numerous CD, book and magazine covers. She is married to the American Fantastic Realist, Robert Venosa, and together they have taught visionary painting workshops worldwide at such Institutes as Esalen, CA, Omega, NY and Skyros in Greece. Hoffmann also gives talks on behalf of visionary art and culture at international conferences such as Convergence and The Amazonian Shamanism Conference in Iquitos Peru, The AllChemical Conference in Kona Hawaii, Mindstates Conference in Berkeley and Prophets Conference in Santa Fe, USA.

Her work has been exhibited and collected worldwide as well as having been published internationally in books such as ‘The Visionary World of Hansruedi Giger’ by Stanislav Grof, Metamorphosis’, ‘True Visions’, ‘Drinking Lightning’, ‘The Return Of The Great Goddess’, and in magazines and publications such as such as ‘Celebrating Women’s Spirituality’, ‘We’Moon’, ‘Inscape’, Magical Blend, and Shaman’s Drum.
